Barbara Czarniawska was a renowned Polish-Swedish organisation scholar, known for applying narrative and anthropological approaches to studying organizations, emphasizing how storytelling shapes organizational life. Her work has significantly influenced management and social sciences by introducing qualitative methodologies that challenge traditional, rationalist perspectives on organizational analysis.

Barbara Czarniawska (1948-2024) was born in Bialystok, Poland, where her family moved from Wilno after the World War II. She was a Swedish citizen since 26 August, 1988. Czarniawska was a Senior Professor of Management Studies at Gothenburg Research Institute, Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law, in Sweden.
